When we couldn’t sleep at night, my sister and I would play “Blankie Shoes.” We would see how many different kinds of shoes we could make out of my blanket, Mummy. Mummy was only a foot square, but our feet were small. My sister always said I copied her shoes, but she really copied mine. I didn’t say anything, though, because I knew she would quit playing with me and start telling stories about our house burning down.
