Cacophony is a performance piece by Carol Hummel and Rebecca Ozbolt. It was performed at Kent State University, Kent, OH, in 2004. Throughout the performance, Hummel and Ozbolt talked on top of one another, focusing on their stories, their thoughts, their feelings. In addition, their conversation was recorded by two video cameras and played back with a one-second delay. The chaos of the primarily self-absorbed conversation was layered with a synchronicity which bonded the conversations together throughout the hours-long performance.
