Hanging On was inspired by the snapping turtle stories I heard as a child. It is said that once a snapper latches onto something, a stick, a snake or a finger ,it will hang on until it dies. When my marriage was going through an agonizingly slow death, I thought about the snappers and was determined to let go before becoming a victim of my own obstinate tenacity.
